FAQs

What format should I supply my images in?

We only accept JPEGs and recommend that images are saved at the highest quality settings, between compression levels 10 and 12. Completed jobs are supplied as JPEGs, saved at the highest possible quality, the only exception being jobs that have had image masking, which are supplied as floating layers in Photoshop (PSD).

What colour background should I shoot my products on?

In most cases, it is best to shoot on a plain white or grey background. If you are going to be choosing a dark background, then it may be best to shoot the product on a mid to dark grey to avoid the lower edges looking too bright. Another great tip is to raise the product onto a block, away from the surface.

Can I upload a batch of images?

If you have a batch of images, which all require the same treatment (same service options, background, etc), then you can upload or email them in a zipped folder. Any options and backgrounds chosen during the order form stage will be administered to all files contained within the zipped folder. If you have several images, which all require different backgrounds or services, then you should upload or email separate files and choose the options according to each individual file.

What size files can I upload?

You can upload any file size, but it is advisable to keep the file size to the maximum size that you will ever need in order to keep upload time to a minimum.

How long do jobs take?

Most jobs take between 1 and 8 working hours. If you are in a particular hurry, then please email us by going to the contact us link, stating your job reference number.

If I supply my own backgrounds, do I still have to pay to have them used in my jobs?

Yes, we charge 90p for adding any background, even if supplied by yourself.

What size backgrounds can I upload?

We only accept background images up to A3 at 300dpi uploaded as JPEGs.

What if I want a particular type of shadow?

You can add instructions, such as "make shadow go to left", or "make shadow stronger". If no particular requests are made we will normally create shadows that are quite soft and subtle, as though lit from above. We will however, take into account the direction of lighting striking the subject and may put a little direction into the shadow if we feel it necessary.

How do I turn my clipping path into a new layer?

Go to 'Window' and select 'Paths' to bring up the paths palette. Click on the icon labeled 'path 1' and it will go blue. Then at the top right of the palette, there is a scroll down bar. Choose 'Make Selection...' and decide on how much you want to feather the edges (0.4 pixels is good for most jobs) and press 'OK'. Your image selection will have 'marching ants', from which you can make a new separate layer by going to 'Layer' and then 'Layer via copy'.
